Recognition in the tourism industry is more than a trophy on the shelf—it’s a signal that our work is making an impact. This year, Learn Tourism was honored to be named one of just 11 finalists in the 2025 Skål Sustainable Tourism Awards, chosen from more than 100 entries worldwide.
While we didn’t win the top prize, we’re celebrating this achievement as an important milestone. Being evaluated alongside 106 organizations dedicated to sustainability and standing out as one of the strongest entries is a win in itself.
The panel of distinguished judges highlighted a feature that makes our work unique:
“Its fully digital model not only reduces carbon emissions but also eliminates the costs and waste of traditional training systems.”
This recognition affirms what we’ve long believed—that innovation in tourism training can be both impactful and sustainable. By shifting away from paper-heavy and travel-heavy training methods, we are helping destinations, organizations, and professionals worldwide embrace learning that supports both people and the planet.
The judges also encouraged us to expand our partnerships with environmental organizations, a suggestion we welcome with open arms. Collaboration has always been at the heart of Learn Tourism’s mission, and we’re excited to explore new ways to connect conservation practices directly into our training modules.
Sustainability in tourism is not optional—it’s essential. Being recognized at this level demonstrates that our nonprofit academy is helping to shape the future of tourism education, blending science, business psychology, and adult learning practices to build stronger, more resilient communities.
We’re incredibly grateful for the visibility this recognition brings, and we’ll continue to use it as motivation to innovate, collaborate, and inspire.
Congratulations to all the winners and fellow finalists who are raising the bar for sustainability in tourism. Together, we’re proving that this industry can be a powerful force for good.
